- Put God first and genuinely care about the welfare of all people. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22.37 – 38
- Seek Jesus, the giver of spiritual gifts. Do not seek gifts that satisfy the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. “Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness.” Matthew 6.33 “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” 1 John 2. 16
- Surrender your life to Christ, not to a denomination, a preacher, or a ministry. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14.6
- Promote only Jesus. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4.12
- Live a meaningful life by denying self in order to focus on the things of God, including helping others. “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
- Do the right things for the right reasons. “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than himself.” Philippians 2.3
- Seek godliness. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. “You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. ” 1 John 2.15
- “Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5.17
